Steward Media’s founder, Derek Dickow, is responsible for providing direction and leadership to develop and foster long-lasting partnerships with reputable organizations and community leaders. Prior to Dickow launching the company, he worked in the private sector as a business entrepreneur.
His ability to lead and need to serve others began at a young age as the eldest of four children from immigrant parents. He majored in Political Science and Philosophy at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan where his leadership skills propelled him on campus as a student leader. He served as a student legislator for the Oakland University Student Congress, and as a student liaison for Non-Academic Conduct Committee. He was also the founding President for the Chaldean American Student Association and in his senior year, he was elected Student Body President of the OUSC.
Since his time on campus, Dickow currently serves the community in many capacities as a community activist, organizer and fundraiser for various important organizations and causes. Dickow began serving the non-profit sector full time in 2009 with his position as the Business Development Consultant for the Associated Food and Petroleum Dealers.
Steward Media has been in a work in progress for many years according to Dickow. He offered, “I wanted to start a company for the purpose of serving others. I was afforded many opportunities in my life by those who were always willing to assist whenever I needed direction. I learned much from the generosity and example of others and felt compelled to give back the only way I knew how – with energy and effort.”
